Gary Walton saw the possibilities throughout the years. With a history of saying YES, coupled with an emphasis on providing extraordinary customer experiences, Walton went from a single-person shop to a company now providing branding implementation internationally.
Walton Signage was formed on January 1, 1980 with one employee, Gary Walton. Headquartered in Corpus Christi, the first office was located in the spare bedroom of Gary’s home. Luby’s Cafeterias was the company’s primary customer.
Walton won its first true national account, OLD NAVY.
Walton purchased a new combined facility of 87,000 square feet where both the “retail” and “wholesale” side of the business operated under one roof.
While the Great Recession ensued, Walton did drop in sales but continued to be profitable and positioned itself for future growth. Recognized for the second time by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the U.S.

While the industry as a whole retreated by 30%, Walton grew 30%. Gary Walton was interviewed by the San Antonio Business Journal where he was quoted as saying “we have elected not to participate in the recession.”
